Question: Ethanol mandates

Filed under: Gas — randallmelchert @ 8:13 am

Question from the email bag: Your website does not state your view of ethanol.  Are you for it or against it? Would support or fight against ethanol mandates?  Would you support any state subsidies for new biofuel plants?

Answer: I believe the state (and the federal government) should stay out of mandates and subsidies for all fuels. While ethanol was quite popular a few years ago and compressed natural gas is starting to come in
vogue, government mandates usually only come through heavy lobbying and usually mean that we are stuck with yesterday’s technology. Let the private sector decide what fuel it wants to use and let’s get the government out of mandating that we use BetaMax.

  1. Exactly! It’s refreshing to come across somebody speaking sense on biofuels.
