24th Assembly Candidate and Radio station owner Randy Melchert stood
on the stump on Saturday, August 30th for the third time at the Germantown Farmer’s Market at the Livery. Melchert stressed the importance of the upcoming election. “One vote out of one hundred million for the presidential election won’t make a lot of difference, but in the upcoming primary on September 9th, one vote out of seven thousand will make a big impact.”
Melchert also noted the need for less government regulation, highlighting the famous quote that “the government that governs best, governs least,” Melchert declared from the stump. While advocating responsible government, he also advocated responsible campaigning. Melchert pledged to refrain from robocalling voters and instead shared about his goal to leave a good taste in people’s mouth, literally. “At the Germantown and Menomonee Falls’ football games last night, we gave out mints to fans and family members as they came to the game. We want to be everywhere but in your face. We will work for your vote, but we will not harass you for it.”
In past weeks Melchert highlighted the fact that gas prices have almost quadrupled in the area, and the average family is paying almost $5,000 per year for fuel. Melchert showed the merchants and shoppers gathered that although we are unable to drill for oil here in Wisconsin, we can lower gas prices by adopting The Melchert Plan: repealing the Minimum Markup Law,eliminating Reformulated Gas, and lowering the gas tax to the national average. Melchert stated that these three steps can lower gas prices almost fifty cents per gallon, saving families thousands of dollars over the next five years.
