Brett Davis: Republican, RINO, or Democrat?
Interesting story about Davis at Examiner.com…
A teacher’s son, Davis’ political ambitions have never been a secret. However, a vast array of tidbits from Davis’ history have many puzzled about why seemingly far right conservatives have taken up Davis’ cause.
A contributing factor to their confusion is that the big spending Wisconsin Education Association Council (WEAC), known for supporting Democrat candidates, has only ever shown token opposition to Davis, a fact that is especially puzzling since Davis has been on the Assembly Education Committee throughout his time in the legislature. Some wonder if perhaps WEAC’s leaders bought the leftist Capital Times’ description of Davis as a “relatively moderate…legislator” or noted the Capital Times praise of Davis’ legislative habits as one who, “knows how to cross partisan lines.”
During his run for second in command at the State Capitol, Davis has portrayed himself as a right-wing member of the GOP. However, on his campaign wesite for the Republican Primary, Davis details what he considers to be the top issues concerning Republicans and fails to mention sanctity of life.
